Your DNA and your diet

Did you know that your nutrition and lifestyle affect how your genes work?

If you test for certain genes you can determine if you are at risk for certain health conditions such as heart disease, cancers, inflammatory conditions, mental disorders, food sensitivities and obesity. But that is not the end of it. You can then lower this risk through dietary and lifestyle changes.
Yes- these genes can then be switched off or on by changing your lifestyle!

The test is a simple cheek swab or a dry blood sample (finger-prick).

If you would like to consult online, we can arrange for the DNA test kit to be sent to you. Otherwise the test can be done at the practice.

Once we have the results we will design a lifestyle intervention plan to meet your specific requirements. This feedback is given in a 60 minute feedback session which can be done online or at the rooms.

Costs:

The individual test prices range from R2750 to R4750.  Please email us for information brochures on the different tests.

These tests are an investment and it’s important that you choose the appropriate ones.  Once you have been assessed in the initial consultation, the dietician will advise which tests will be best for you.

The feedback session to go through your reports takes 60 minutes and can be done in the rooms or online on video call. This costs R1100, and the fee can be claimed back from your medical aid, depending on your scheme.
